The Library has a collection of secular homeschool curricular resources that are available for checkout.

Reading:

  • All About Reading from All About Learning Press is a complete program that teaches phonics, decoding, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.

    • Pre-Reading – Level 4 (teacher’s manuals, student books, & resources)

  • The Great Works: Instructional Guides for Literature series from Shell Education are designed to develop a love for reading. These instructional guides help teachers and students explore popular and classic children’s literature and develop comprehension and vocabulary skills. The corresponding novels can be borrowed from the Library’s collection.

Spelling:

  • All About Spelling from All About Learning Press is a program that teaches encoding skills, spelling rules, and multi-sensory strategies for spelling success.

Social Studies:

  • History Quest series from Pandia Press (recommended for 1st – 4th grade) is a storytelling-based system intended for adults to read aloud to children that includes hands-on activities.

  • History Odyssey series from Pandia Press (recommended for 5th – 12th grade) is a literature-based series that incorporates history, geography, writing, and reading. Books used with this series may either be borrowed from the library or requested through interlibrary loan.

    • History Odyssey: Ancients, Level 2 (5th-8th)

  • The Story of the World series by Susan Wise Bauer (Well-Trained Mind Press) is a narrative, chronological approach to world history designed for adults to read aloud to elementary-age students or for older children to read on their own.
