Library Services

Our purpose at the library is to make information and resources available to our patrons.  To that end, we offer a variety of items for checkout.  If we do not have the item you need, we will make every effort to borrow it from another library through the Michigan eLibrary (MeLCat) state-wide lending program.

Getting a Library Card

  • The Bad Axe Area District Library serves all residents of the Bad Axe School District, as well as residents of Colfax, Verona or Meade Townships.

  • Patrons applying for a library card who do not reside or own real property in these areas are subject to a non-resident fee of $40/household/year or $20/household/six months.

  • Non-residents with a valid library card from another Huron County library are welcome to use their card here as a guest.

  • To get a card, please apply at the library and present proof of identity and current residence (driver's license, current utility bill, rental agreement, etc.)

  • Children must be five years old to obtain a library card.  Children and legally dependent adults require a parent’s or guardian’s signature.  Co-signers accept responsibility for the return of all library materials and liability for any and all fines, losses or assessments against the library card
